Our Verification Process
EnvService GmbH is accredited under ISO 17029 as an independent verification body for maritime emissions and fuel compliance. We provide verification services under the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), the EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification Regulation (EU MRV), FuelEU Maritime, and the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS).
*UK ETS accreditation is currently applied for.
How We Verify
A structured, risk-based methodology from monitoring plan to final report.
Monitoring Plan Assessment (where applicable)
For schemes that require an approved monitoring plan (e.g. EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime), we assess the plan for conformity with the applicable regulatory requirements before it is approved for use.
Scope & Document Review
We review the submitted data, records, and supporting evidence against the approved monitoring plan and the applicable regulatory requirements.
Risk Assessment
We identify areas with a higher risk of misstatement or non-conformity, which guides the focus and depth of our verification activities.
Verification of Emission and Compliance Reports
Verification activities include data sampling, calculation checks, and cross-referencing of evidence. Evidence is typically obtained directly from the vessel — for example bunker delivery notes, engine and fuel consumption logs, and voyage/noon reports — and checked for consistency and completeness.
Findings
Any errors, misstatements, or non-conformities identified are communicated to the client, who has the opportunity to provide clarification or additional evidence before the verification is concluded.
Independent Technical Review
Every verification is reviewed by qualified personnel who were not involved in carrying out the verification, to confirm the conclusion is sound.
Verification Decision & Report
A final verification report and, where applicable, a document of compliance are issued.
Site Visits
As part of our verification activities, we may carry out a site visit at the company’s or vessel’s premises once a year. Site visits can be conducted physically or virtually — for example by video conference, supported by relevant written or electronic documentation — depending on a risk-based assessment and the requirements of the applicable regulatory framework (EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, UK ETS).
